Sport Relief Mile

On Friday 23rd March we walked a mile for Sport Relief.

We had a lot of fun and had special certificates and stickers to take home with us.

The Gingerbread Man.

Our story over the past couple of weeks has been 'The Gingerbread Man'. We have enjoyed reading the book, retelling the story in our class theatre, sequencing the story and making our own books and lots more.
Our favourite part of it all though was making our own Gingerbread Men - Look at all the fun we had!!

Yum, yum!

World Book Day!

On Wednesday 7th March our school celebrated World Book Day. We all came to school dressed as a character from a book - look!

We had a special assembly and came out the front to show all of the other children who we had dressed up as!

Later in the day the teachers all swapped classes to read stories  - Miss Williams came to read to us.

In the afternoon we had our 'Spelling Bee' competition. Beth and Erin competed for our class against some of the Year 2 children. Mati fromYear 2 won, but we had lots of fun watching and taking part.

We also drew our favourite characters on special bookmarks which we can now keep with our reading books.
What a busy yet fun day!

Mapping Skills

Over the past couple of weeks we have been learning alot about our local area.

We are now learning to draw simple maps.

We used the compass on the Infant Yard to help us learn about directions.

We then had to draw what we could see to the North, South, East and West.

Look at our finished Signpost Map!

A visit from PC Louise

On Tuesday 17th January PC Louise visited Year 1 to teach us all about 'People Who Help Us'.

We enjoyed looking at posters and talking about the different people who would be available to help us in different situations.

We learnt lots of important information about what to do if we were ever in a situation where we needed help.

We helped PC Louise tell us a story by dressing up and acting the
story out.

Look at us!

We learnt a lot and had lots of fun!!
